No one uses their phone as a phone anymore, except one person. His name's Gary. We're gonna talk about Gary. Today we are talking about today uh the Sudabrink phone calls. Now what are the Sudabrink phone calls you've been asking yourself? It's it's not Sudabrink.

Uh sud or sudbrink, it's one of the two. But you're probably asking yourself, why are we talking about this sudbrink? What are we talking about these phone calls for? What is sudbrink phone calls? Uh Jason, do you want to elaborate a smidge since you go first?

I guess I can. Um, and only because I go first, otherwise I wouldn't be doing this. Um when we say when we talk about the the uh Sudbrink or the Gary Sudbrink phone calls, um what we're doing is we're referencing and a series of events that took place over the course of, I think, from what I looked at, it's just over a year. If you look at all of the like the information about it. Um so this is back in 1993, and it's all about a 27-year-old named Gary Sudbrink, who is originally from Long Island, New York. Um, he also, if you if you care, was a captain in the Air Force. Um, he was assigned to a medical pharmacy in San Antonio, Texas. Uh Gary decided to come home and visit his family without telling anyone after one of his uh his stations. So he had a break. Basically, he decided to surprise his family and friends back in New York, didn't tell anyone. Um, and I will say simply because no one would ever pay attention to that detail otherwise, pay attention to that detail. Um so he uh he makes his calls and he heads on over to uh the airport. Now, it's it's important to note what airport he left from. I think it was JFK, right? I think that's what he said. It was JFK Airport. Okay. So he leaves from JFK Airport, and while he's um while he's there, something weird does happen. I'll go over that in just a second. The rest of this does it does uh pertain to further in the story, and so what we're gonna be talking about is this man, Gary, who again is from New York, and he uh flies to uh to Texas to see his family, and in the in the interim, a bunch of weird shit happens to make everyone involved very confused about all of the things, I guess. And this story kind of goes over a series of sequential phone calls that are made to not only Gary, but Gary's family as well. Um and all of them will say the same thing about all of it. And actually, there's recordings for all of it. Yeah, these phone calls are very strange. However, this all starts way the fuck back in JFK Airport when uh Gary, again, Monday, February 8th, decides to uh I'm sorry, not February 8th. Uh I think it was February 6th. I don't think the date either is that much. I don't think it really does. He goes to the airport, and while he's there, um he uh is he he meets this guy holding a clipboard, nondescript, just uh there was nothing super special about him except for he was holding a clipboard. He starts asking him questions. Now, the clipboard does make you special, and all of my jobs have told me that because every time I've walked around holding a clipboard at work, I've never gotten bothered. That's the that's the key. Just a heads up, everyone. You have a clipboard, you can do whatever you want at work. Um so guy holding a clipboard comes up and he starts asking a bunch of questions, like, you know, what's your name? Is this how it's pronounced? Is this how it's spelled? Where are you from? Who are you? And where do you get off? Where do you get off? That is one of the questions, actually. Like, where do you get off? Um no, one of the he thinks that he's being sold something, so he kind of just brushes the guy off, continues about his journey through the to the airport terminal, gets there, checks in, boards the plane. Once he's on the plane, he sits, you know, sits down, situates a bit, and wouldn't you fucking know it? The same guy. Actually, I'm sorry. One of the accounts does say it's the same guy. There are several accounts saying that it's a different individual. However, both are holding clipboards. This man comes up, sits down next to him, and start asking him the exact same types of questions. Could be the same guy, could be a different guy. There are conflicting accounts on this. Yeah, it's it there's yeah, there's a bunch of different uh conflicting accounts on that, so that's we can't really know that part of it. Um, eventually got pissed and told the guy to fuck off. Uh, called a flight attendant over who said, You need to go back to your seat because this is not your seat. And the guy goes, Okay. Apparently, literally gets up, walks to the row behind Gary. So as I was saying, right back down. Start your fucking name. So anyway, what was your name again? I've just been talking uh Larry? Yeah, he same same thing, same song and dance, and apparently this happens throughout the duration of the flight intermittently, albeit it happens with less and less frequency throughout, which apparently was fine for Gary because it could have been a screaming baby. So, like could have been. I don't know, which is which is worse. Yeah. Um, so that's that's Gary's uh that's the kind of the overview of what and who Gary is and what this whole thing is thing is about. Um, and I will say the last thing I'll say to kind of pique everyone's interest is he the calls that he is about to receive, which Mike is about to go over just a little bit. Um I don't know if those calls originated from this planet.

Clipboard Stranger At JFK

Mike, what do you got? Yeah, uh one thing I I want to note real quick because it ties into a bit of my thing. Uh, before Gary even goes to the airport, uh he does bring mention, and and he brings this up to his dad later, which I'll talk about, but uh he does mention a sighting that he had um above his house.

Black Helicopter And Weird Timing

No, oh, that's what I'm talking about. So apparently, uh a couple days before he decided to go on his flight, uh, Gary noticed and heard a black helicopter flying above his house. Uh relatively low, too, like low enough where he's like, that's suspicious. And he went out to see what was going on, and it just hovered there. It didn't really do anything, it just hovered right above his house and then just took off. And he was like, That's fucking weird. Uh, and that is that's a relatively good segue into what I'm talking about. Because like Jason said, he flew to Texas. Right when he gets off, he goes to visit his family. He goes to his uh mom.

So while he is with his uh his parents, he has this conversation with his dad about the sighting of the helicopter he had. Uh his dad mentions to him a couple things. Uh, he mentions, oh, apparently his dad, their Gary's whole family is super into like uh the UFOs, like paranormal things like that. Uh his dad told Gary about this trip that his dad and his uncle took to West Virginia where they saw a UFO. Uh I'll get on that a little bit more later, but uh in this conversation, his dad also mentions to him that he also saw a helicopter hovering over his house just like Gary did. It's at this time Gary's like, that's fucking weird. Two helicopters? Two? That's no, you're not seeing double. There's four crustees. So Gary uh there are four lights. Yeah. Gary uh decides, you know, that's crap, that's weird, but uh, you know, we'll talk about this later. I gotta call my friend Mike because he's trying to s he' he's in town. He wants to get up with it and meet up with his buddies. So he calls his friend Mike, and as he does, he's like, Hey Mike, what's going on? And Mike says, Oh, Gary, you sound much better than than earlier. And Gary's like, wait, what? What do you mean much better than earlier? And Mike explains that 20 minutes ago, he got a call from Gary. And Gary's like, I haven't called you. This is I just landed, homie. I'm I'm not getting in touch with you. And uh Mike says, No, it sounded just like you, but it was just a little nasally, kind of like you had a cold. But you told me he's he Mike went on to explain that whoever was talked to him on the phone explained everything to him about Gary. How uh he went on his flight, how he was talked to by this person. The only thing that this person got wrong was some of the flight information. They I think they said he like leaves out of like LaGuardia or something instead of JFK. Yes, so they got they got the um they got the airport information wrong. But as Gary is talking to his friend Mike, the phone rings, and keep in mind this is all happening at his parents' house, you know. So no one really should have this number that's trying to reach out to Gary. Um no, they they shouldn't. Yeah, and and the other weird thing is this is taking place at roughly around 10:30 at night. That's when Gary's reaching out to his buddy here.

Yeah, so as he's calling his friend, Gary gets another phone call on the other line and he decides no one should be calling at this time. That's very weird. It must be important. Let me answer it. So he answers the phone. And pretty quickly after answering, he realizes I need to record this shit. And so he pick he turns on his uh his voicemail recorder so he can record the audio track.

And this is this is okay. Again, this is 1996 or something, right? Yeah, like voicemail recorders were still a thing. You put a little analog tape in the deck and you closed it, you rewind it, and you set it, and you make your little recording, and then you had like a month and a half of voicemail, and then you had to re-record it. God, the 90s was an interesting time.

But notice the perfect time for this phone call. You'll notice some weird oddities in the phone call, too. Like it asks, how long are you going to be back from Texas? Like it's not, yeah, it doesn't make much sense. It it stutters a little bit, but it repeats.

So it's almost like whoever's making this message or recording or call or whatever this is, doesn't have a full grasp on how language on earth works. Maybe. Maybe. But I'm just that's just that's just a weird observation on my end.

Um we hear from his dad on other recordings as well. Um maybe I can find the audio for some of those other recordings as well. But um, yeah, that that happens the first.

At the very beginning, it seems like somebody is just trying to like interrogate this phone number. You know what I mean? Yeah, like they have no idea who they just called. So but later on it it gets worse.

Orion Message And UFO Dad

I so I sent Mike a uh a clip of basically the same audio. Um, you guys aren't gonna believe this, but Gary at his not his house, at his parents' house in Texas, gets several more calls throughout the night. And also throughout the next day, um he gets what three three more phone calls throughout this the first night that he gets these calls.

Um, and again, so there's a shit. There is a one hour and 40 or sorry, it's like uh it's almost two hours long. It's an interview with somebody named Sue Seawek, and she actually has the physical copy of all of these uh these audio recordings of his phone calls because she actually met with Gary and talked with him. Apparently, both of them love going to UFO conventions, don't we? So they oh I know, man. Um, so Sue Seawek met with Gary uh Sudbrink and exchanged stories, and apparently there were several more calls throughout the night. Um, where not only did they inquire about Gary's identity, they also told Gary that huh, weird. You're being impersonated, bud. Not good there, Bud. It's not good there, Bud. Um, so we've heard the how long are you back from Texas? You've heard is this Gary Sudbrink? Um, one of the creepier moments on one of the calls, though, is when they like pure surprise in a very deep modulated voice go, Who is this? That's kind of where I was like, Oh, this isn't this might not just be like a somebody. Fucking like this might not be his brother fucking with him via recorded message that was just slowed way the fuck down. Um this might be something different. Yeah.

They they love it, love the idea of it, and they are like, yes, I believe they are one step past Fox Mulder.

And the most important ones, and here I'll tell you, the ones to pay attention to, and again, this is this is all real. Like this is these are phone calls that happen, these are real individuals. This is not like a trail of breadcrumbs leading into a random fictional part of the internet, you know what I mean? These are like people talking with each other, these are actual recorded phone calls. Um, but the big the big uh sentences that we hear are obviously, is this or confirming that this is Gary Sudbrink. However, keep an eye on the skies near Orion, the full moon. Um show double from you. There was uh you you're being impersonated by the other, like, or the double. I'm sorry, they say the double. Gary, even later, going go ahead.

Oh, uh, Gary later on in other ones, speaking of the full moon and everything, he does mention he's like, Oh, the full moon is two days away. Is that when you want me outside? Like, he he tries to piece it all together.

Oh, yeah, no. Oh, there's and the the worst part is, man, it's like nobody here that has heard us talk about all of this knows like part of the backstory to any of this, which is wild to me. Um, one of the other big things that they hear over this phone line is beware government interference, yeah, government interference, visitations will be disrupted by them, as well as things like not from earth, visit earth, visit like basically all the signs point to this recording is not from planet earth because not okay for several reasons. The grammar doesn't line up, the sentence structure does not line up almost ever, the words do, but that's it, and we can basically take away an inference from the understanding of basic language, but even like the ancient, ancient, ancient peoples of this world had understanding of basic language, like so. I don't I don't understand why it's so just abrupt and like it's almost like they're not using articles or prepositions or anything, it's just nouns, verbs, adjectives.

The the downside is this is really all we have of the phone calls. There's just like the four total, essentially, that Gary gets. He's never really contacted again. Um he does mention, I don't know if you saw his I'm I'm good here.

Oh, just his uh poltergeist activity. I don't know if you've if you if you read it on that information at all, but I guess after these um these phone calls, he started experiencing what he calls like poltergeist activity where things would move around the house, he would hear voices, um, and he thinks that it has something to do. Yeah, he thinks it has something to do with these phone calls. Um there is a point, I believe, where he was at his his parents' house and he kept seeing like figures, and then he would go home.

And his and his and the worst part is his parents, like they both are super into this stuff, so it's not like they were sitting there going, like, oh no, your mind is all sorts of worked up. Oh no, they're calm down a bit. No, they're like, stay angry, stay rage, think what you're thinking, you're doing great.

But it is it is interesting, like I guess I'll let you you said you had one more thing you want to bring up, but uh, by all means go for it right now. I was gonna I was gonna do this after the the West Virginia thing. Oh, okay, cool. Um, but it it's just interesting because again, like why Gary? He mentions early on that's Gary, for fuck's sake. He mentions early on that the reason he went to to visit his parents is because first off, I believe he worked for the military he works for the military or did when this was happening. I don't know. He was Air Force, Air Force, yes, thank you. And his like days off just magically lined up where you have like a three-day weekend. I know. And so he's that never happened. Yeah, so he's just like, I'll just fucking go. He's supposed to like tell people when he's leaving, but he's like, I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna do it. And he believes that is what like started all this. Like maybe he's like know some intel, but like I don't know if that has anything to do with it or if it's just coincidence or not, but uh I I something I don't know. I I will get into what we think or the theories in a minute, but I'll I'll talk about my last bit, which is I mentioned it before where his father mentioned to him that he had an experience in West Virginia. Uh his father doesn't really go into huge, huge details here, but essentially what he talks about is um his dad and his uncle visited the Green Bank Telescope, which collapsed in 1988, and this is in West Virginia. Apparently, there's a whole bunch of rumors that claim that this telescope was destroyed by UFOs. Uh, I guess it was like monitoring them, and the UFOs retaliated against it. But people claim to see UFOs all around this area, and his dad and uncle both claim to have witnessed a UFO hovering around the telescope when they went to visit it. This typically wouldn't be, you know, too out of the ordinary. I mean UFO visit, yeah, and sightings, yeah, that is out of the ordinary. But what really makes it interesting is that though the telescope collapsed, it has relatively recently, not like not like a recent, recent, but within the past like I want to say 30 years, it was kind of rebuilt to be used as a device to send out and receive uh radio wave frequencies from space. So is it a coincidence that uh this thing was attacked by UFOs when it may have been used for communication purposes, relay purposes with space? Wowiezae. Something like that. Wowie zaui. Um yeah, so uh Gary's dad believes that the UFO that they witnessed in West Virginia is connected to this. I think that's a bit of a stretch. I think I mean you can have multiple UFO uh encounters in your life. I don't think the two are really connected, if you ask me. Well, there's they're two different things. The Doppelganger Sighted A Year Earlier

Ooh, okay, because otherwise it sounds just kind of like a a made-up story. Um, so you heard on the phone call that and also Mike and I mentioned uh Steven, which is Gary's older brother, and he kept saying on the phone calls, like, Steven, this is fucking you, like I know it's you, fuck off, get out of here. He thinks Steven's just fucking with him. Well, a year before this event happens, um, there was a family gathering at Gary's sorry, the the Sudbrink family home, the Sud Brink family reunion. Right. Um, and while this was happening, Gary's older brother Steven swears up and down that not only did he see Gary driving to this family reunion reunion. Yeah, I forgot about that. Saw his car, saw like it just was identical, the mannerisms, the everything. Apparently, the Gary he saw made a bunch of faces at him and then floored it to get away from him. Steven found out later that Gary, his brother, arrived to the reunion via plane.

Gary's brother Steven saw Gary, who apparently was not Gary, driving to their family reunion when Gary flew, because you know, New York, Texas, obviously.

Uh you've heard of Gary's mod now by Gary's box. I guess what uh what do you think is going on here? Do you think this is a real thing? Do you think it's fake? Dude, do you want my honest opinion? Yeah. I do think it's probably fake. Um, but I think it's very compelling. The f first and foremost, we do have these physical like 90s recordings and everything, and it's very interesting. But uh the the video that I got the audio from, uh first and foremost, I want to give a quick shout out to uh the video that I pulled this from. It is the Tape Library. Um makes pretty good content there and uh very very informative stuff. So shout out Tape Library, but they had the same theory that I did, where it was just someone using a voice recorder or like manipulator, and this was roughly around the time that the Home Alone movies came out, and he makes the idea that they're using the talk boy to do the voice impressions, so much so where if you actually speed up the voice a little bit, it just sounds like a guy. Dude, it just sounds like a dude. Um so they they think that they're just using a talk boy uh voice recorder type of situation, but I I don't know because the coincidence of two helicopters I guess my whole thing is why Gary? Because it doesn't like it wouldn't make sense if like this was happening to someone who's like, oh, I worked in the Air Force and I worked on experimental uh uh alien technology or something, and now I'm being contacted by the aliens. But Gary never lets off that like he was doing anything weird in the Air Force, or like there's any reason for the aliens to want him. I think he's probably bored, honestly. Yeah, right. Um, but that that's my whole thing is there's not really a reason for the aliens to specifically want Gary to this extent.

Plus, it's it's backed up by several people at the same location, right? Yeah. So like what's what's there to debate? Real aliens. Well, I do like the Mystique. The Mystique is great, like the this story is awesome. However, I happen to frequent Reddit, and Reddit is full of people who have no fucking lives. Oh, so they just decode things and identify things for a goddamn living without getting paid. Um so apparently this has been identified that so the calls being made to Gary have been identified as an actual analog tape recorder that has been slowed down slightly, and on top of that, apparently it's been it's two separate tape recordings recorded over each other to make this voice. Okay, and if you were to pull those apart, you hear two distinct voices, and one of them sounds suspiciously like Gary. And Gary has a brother named Steven. So I don't know, man. The math ain't mathing on aliens here. The math doesn't math. I know we're gonna do real or fake here, but man, like it's intriguing, but Reddit did their thing. I think I found this actually on uh RBI. Nice. Um so they just went down their rabbit hole, they fucking put all the audio, they fact check all the details. Thank god, because I didn't want to do that. Um yeah, and yeah, one of the one of the biggest consensus that I found is this is the the phone calls are simply two analog tapes recorded with two different voices played at a slower speed together.

Here's my this is what I think happened. Gary was jealous of all his Air Force buddies that got promoted to like super special secret projects or something. I want to be an alien man. I could do it too, and so he got called by aliens instead. Yeah, when in doubt, if you can't get promoted, just go to aliens. Well, the worst part about all this is is that like the whole planet at this point knows that extraterrestrials exist and they have visited Earth. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like, we all know they exist, yep, which makes this story from 1996, to me anyway, way cringier. Because I feel like the people that made this never thought the US government would ever prove the existence of extraterrestrials, and they're just leaving me voicemails.
