SPEAKER_09And you're listening to Don't Look Under the Internet, where we're missing uh Jason. Um that's okay. We adapt, we overcome.
SPEAKER_07Do you think we're on what is it, Colchi or whatever? Like, and people can bet if Jason will be here or not.
SPEAKER_09It wouldn't be the dumbest thing that I've seen on uh uh bets being placed on. Uh I'm gonna start off today with a bit of a good old-fashioned dilutie. Got a couple names I want to shout out. First and foremost, I'm gonna shout out to Ben Madden. Shouts out to Ben Madden.
SPEAKER_00Ben Madden. Ben Madden.
SPEAKER_08Ben Madden. Ben Madden. Ben Madden. Bin Laden?
SPEAKER_07Chinese earthquake. So what is his name? Bin Laden? Ben Laden.
SPEAKER_09Now, Ben Madden, do we think that's his real name or do you think that's his uh username? Ben Madden.
SPEAKER_06Well, doxxed as fuck. That's probably his real name.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, all right. So that means we have to give him a different name. Should we just call him bin Laden? It's Bin Laden now.
SPEAKER_07So that's unfortunate.
SPEAKER_00But not B-I-N, B-E, and Bin Laden.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Ben Laden. Yeah. It's actually pronounced Ben Laden. There's like a little bit of difference, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_09Like the teal day over the A or something. Uh just well, shout out to Bin Laden. Uh, I also want to give a shout out to uh Sindri. What's up, Sindri? Um, those are our two paying uh members. We also have a couple free members. We have CJ Burgantini. Thanks, CJ. Um the free members get a shout-out.
SPEAKER_00What do you get if you become a free member?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, what is free?
SPEAKER_00What does free mean?
SPEAKER_09I don't know. Free could be an company. I'm sure two dollars for the shout-out. Oh yeah. We aren't shouting out the free ones. You have to pay us money. Hey, CJ, whatever.
SPEAKER_00You got this one for free, but the other one, these people put the effort into coming to our website and being or Patreon and being like, I acknowledge you exist.
SPEAKER_09That's true. You acknowledge it. You know what? You can get it. CJ Bergantini, holler at your boy. We have Puss Destroyer 1000s. That's a fun one. And bittersweet soda. So thank you, gang. That's really cool of you. Um but yeah, fun, fun times. Uh, that's gonna no not conclude housekeeping yet, not concluding yet. Buy merch.
SPEAKER_07That's the end of the episode, actually.
SPEAKER_09Fully looking at you. Stop what you're doing.
SPEAKER_10Look at the camera. Look at the video. Buyer merch. Okay. I don't want to tell you again. Deluty.com.
SPEAKER_00There's a members only beans and beans bug that will there's a long there's a long story.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, shouts out to Gloria.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, shout out shout out Gloria. She was really helpful.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Patreon.com slash Deluty Pot or Deluty.com. Go buy or don't.
SPEAKER_00Also, if you're if you're the person that reported us for not making the beans and beans mug members only, that was an accident. And also, this is all your fault.
SPEAKER_06So I'll fuck you.
SPEAKER_00You owe us you somebody one amongst you is a fucking nerd.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Yeah, what the hell? Um, nah, but yeah, uh buy the merch if you can. If you can't put that money towards groceries, beef price is crazy right now. It's crazy.
SPEAKER_07That screw worm, dog.
SPEAKER_09You can get that screw worm, you get the poop parasite, the screw worm style manella, pick, take a pick. It's all there, you know. You want eggs? Too bad. I feel like going out to eat nowadays. You know how, like, if you go to a swingers party, and I've never been, this is just weird things. You know how you go to a senior party, you put the keys in the fishbowl. You put the keys in the fishbowl, okay, you know, and at the end of the night, you just kind of yank one out. I feel like going grocery shopping now is the equivalent to that. Whereas you're reaching in to grab a random disease. Yeah, what disease am I getting today?
SPEAKER_00I've honestly it's kind of the same thing, really.
SPEAKER_09There's one place you can go where you know the food will be safe. Kava. No. Damn. A little place called Chimpy Chippas. That's how you know it's safe. Uh, housekeeping is done, by the way. I wouldn't, but thank you.
SPEAKER_07It was it was uh that was pretty good, actually. Thank you. The food is safe. It was it was it was medium, but like it brought us out of the like thousand episodes we've done where they were really bad. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, hey man.
SPEAKER_09Sometimes the only way to get over a bad dish is to eat one that's fine. Yeah, yeah. Sometimes, um,
What Is Chimpy Chippas
SPEAKER_09yeah. If you haven't figured it out, we're talking about chimpy chippas today, which I am I don't remember how we stumbled across it, but goddamn, I happy.
SPEAKER_00Pretty sure somebody left a Spotify comment asking us to do this.
SPEAKER_09I thought Doug just found it, just like like on YouTube or something.
SPEAKER_00I believe somebody asked us to do this.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I believe uh yeah, I honestly I can't remember. I just remember we were doing an episode and then we got to talking about it, and then I like looked at it briefly, and I was like, this is a good thing. Oh, yeah, monkey. Yeah, I don't know, don't it don't matter, but yeah.
SPEAKER_09Here we are. Here we are. We're talking about fucking chimpy chippas. Uh so for those of you that uh do not know of what a chimpy chip is, it's a YouTube series. Um, if you go to the YouTubes, you can find it there. It's pretty quick. Uh, there's not a whole lot going on in it, if I can be honest. Um, what is it like seven videos?
SPEAKER_07Seven videos, longest one's five minutes, the rest are like three to one and a half minutes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Um, pretty short, pretty simple. It's on a channel called Spring Talk, and I'm gonna be honest, they have other things on there that I want us to talk about as well at some point. That mannequin one looks creepy as shit.
SPEAKER_07Uh yeah, I haven't checked them out yet, but I saw that I was gonna recommend that actually.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, so we might cover more of the Spring Talks uh uh content here, but yeah, Chimpy Chip was was giv requested to but to us, and we found it, loved it, and now we're talking about it because it's great, and it's got like a lot of views, it's got like a million some odd views on some of these. So, and I get why, and you'll you'll find out why as we get into it. Um but where do we typically start? If not, the beginning. Uh the beginning of Monkey Market. I don't know what you want you want Chimpy Chippas. Um starts off with episode one. I forgot the name of the episode, so let
Tape One Banned Restaurant Commercial
SPEAKER_09me go find out real quick because I was not Band commercial. Uh bann commercial, thank you. Band commercial tape one of seven. So we start off here uh with a tape of a voiceover reading for a commercial for a restaurant called Chimpy Chippas. Um, so our voice actor here is reading the script, uh, and he's just going through, he's like, Chimpy Chippas, come here to get yourself a good burger and whatnot. And then it's just like your typical, like, like I don't know, local business, like local restaurant commercial where it shows you like the burger, shows you the inside, and then it cuts to the mask, a shot of the monkey mascot, and this thing is ugly as shit, and it's so ugly, it throws the the the voice, uh, the voiceover guy just way off. He's like, God damn, like what you that's what you went with.
SPEAKER_00Does anybody know how fucking creepy this thing is?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's his I've never taken my jar too much. But it's so funny because yeah, it's very jarring. This monkey, I guess, uh statue puppet looking thing that they have for this thing.
SPEAKER_07It it looks like it's kind of, I believe, is what it's supposed to be.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, we find that out later. Um, but it's like kind of it kind of looks paper mache-esque, you know.
SPEAKER_07Uh but it's I was almost thinking it looked like somebody like made it in a like a like out of clay and then like fired it in the kiln or something. It has that like shine to it, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_09Hundred P Hundle P. Um it's just very funny how he he gets to it and he's just like, what the fuck? Um so take two. We start it all over, and he's reading through. Uh and right in the beginning, we see like it gets a shot of the building, and it stops and it turns like the background turns dark and everything. And then we get this text that pops up on the screen, and it says, I'm so hungry, I've been trapped in here so long, starving. I see you watching this. I'm hungry. And if you haven't guessed yet, this is an analog horror type of deal, type of sity that we get ourselves in. So then we go about the commercial like normal until we get to the monkey again, and the voice actor breaks, and he says, That monkey's creepy as hell. What were y'all thinking? And uh Chimpy's eyes at this point then like slowly start to turn green, and we cut to the end of the tape, but Chimpy's face remains on the screen. Um, it's at this point we also find out that this seems to be like a screen recording of uh someone's desktop, and they just have like a video file open that they were playing for us because um we see like Chimpy's eyes and like Chimpy's face and everything on the screen, and then a cursor comes over and like exits out of the uh the video, and Chimpy's like eyes are following the cursor around too, and then it cuts to like the file explorer and Chimpy's eyes are like still there, it's kind of creepy looking. Uh then you see the words I'm hungry show up on screen, and that kind of is the end of the first video. Very well done. I appreciate the that this we'll get more into it later, but right off the rip, I appreciate that it's comical and also creepy. Like this just shows like time and time again that like horror and comedy are on the same scale, and uh I I love like this uh Greensboro. When whenever you get comedy sprinkled into your your analog horrors, it's always a good time for me.
SPEAKER_07Hell yeah. I I agree with that sentiment. We're we're not too far in yet, so I won't gush yet. But uh, so video two is called Storage Breach.
Tape Two Warehouse Break In Horror
SPEAKER_07And uh the description of this is uh it says Chimpy Chippa. Every time I say that, I feel like I'm fucking it up. Chimpy Chippa was decommissioned and placed in a storage at Will Bill's warehouse after his commercial was banned in early 1984. Employees uncertain what to do with animatronic puppet. However, on October 11th, 1984, security footage footage captured the horror which unfolded that night. A disturbing incident of alleged thief went missing while attempting to break into the warehouse. They were never found. So we get this video. Um, and right off the rip, it's uh it just shows that it's a confidential warehouse surveillance tape footage via 1984, and the footage is described as uh an attempted theft at Will Bill's warehouse. The perp went missing between 1937 oh six and nineteen thirty-seven thirty. Um, so it there's like a period of twenty some seconds that this whole thing takes place in. Yeah. Um so we see a close-up shot of Chimpy, and he's just chilling in this warehouse, and you basically can hear that someone is inside um via the very loud footsteps, and uh there's a hammering around clomping down the left foot. Um, but yeah, basically they knock something over or they break some glass somewhere, and then these alarms start just fucking blaring. And it's between the aforementioned timestamps, um, and basically his head like snaps forward like right at the fucking camera because he's kind of like at an an he's like at an angle at one point, and then as soon as the alarm starts going, he kind of goes like staring right at it. Good, yeah. Uh yeah, and then he does this like weird like mouth chomp thing where his like whole head like fucking opens up and then um he disappears, and you hear basically this guy being like, What the fu and then like screaming, and then uh essentially the screaming stops, and the chimpy is now back where we saw him before. Um he's very dormant looking now and uh looking away from the camera um as he previously was. Um, but after the screaming, we get some weird text coming through the uh the footage says, Where am I? How can I be talking? It got me. Am I dead? I can't see. Empty thoughts. Can someone hear me? Darkness.
SPEAKER_09Um, pretty much. Uh but that then we switch over to his uh what do you think his like mannerisms were? Was he just like, how am I talking right now? He got me.
SPEAKER_07Well I would I would I would say I would go into it a little bit more, but we don't we don't know yet, right?
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_07So um I don't want to say anything to give anything away yet. But uh we swap over to a new camera. We were looking at camera four, I believe, and now we're looking at camera five, and it's pitch black. Um, this is the very last couple seconds of the video, but as the the camera switches, we see the black start to fade into what looks like best be described as a human skull, maybe a monkey face. It's not super clear what it is, um, but it looks bloody. I think that's supposed to be that robber guy's skull. That's that's what I was thinking as well. Um but yeah, again, very hard. It's it's not super hard to make out, but it's hard enough to make out where you're it's a little unclear who or what it is. Um, and it does look a little bloody, or maybe I don't know. Actually, the more I look at it, it almost looks like a design on the skull.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it's it's I think it's blood, but it's like trickling down from the top. Oh, either way, there's a skull there.
SPEAKER_10What was that noise you just made?
SPEAKER_04You sounded like one of those like it's been a while since we've done a throat noise segment.
SPEAKER_07Um remember when we used to be drinking all the time and you just hear like oh god, it's disgusting. Like fucking from your throat. Yeah. Throat farts. Um, okay.
SPEAKER_00Clouds into the mic.
SPEAKER_07Uh I wouldn't I wouldn't smoke most of the time when we were recording. No, you only on the bonus. The bonuses I did. The bonuses I did. True. Or I would, or I would bend down, like pull a Jason, you know what I'm saying? I remember one of those and then somebody's chairs just fucking.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I think that was me. I remember one of the episodes, I don't remember which episode it was, but Doug, it was you and me alone, and I had to record off my old shitty laptop, and you recorded, I think, off of yours, and I I remember the mic didn't work or something, so it's like shitty audio, and then you had also just here so that it wouldn't come into Discord, but I didn't have it muted so that it wouldn't record.
SPEAKER_10So it was just like you just outright for fucking days. It would just be me talking and just yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_07That sounds right. Wowie Zowie. Um, so that was uh that was the end of the video two um storage breach.
SPEAKER_09Hell yeah. We're gonna move on to video three.
Tape Three 911 Calls And Glowing Eyes
SPEAKER_09I promise Matt will be talking at some point, but videos three is disturbing 911 calls. Now, we start off uh ring ring, um, a screen telling us of a 911 call from Chimpy Chippas on January 7th, 1984. Uh, we get the audio from this call, and we hear a very distressed woman telling us about a lady who walked into Chimpy Chimpas. Also, I know it's a probably just a dumb bit, but awful name for a restaurant. Chimpichippas. Awful.
SPEAKER_07Also, it's good to know that this is now earlier in time. This is predating what we just saw. Yeah, yeah, this is the 80s. Yours was what, 90s? No, it was 84. It was just in October. Yours is oh just in January. Oh, whoops. Uh whoops.
SPEAKER_09So we hear you hear this. We hear a distressed woman telling us about one who walked in the chimpys with a gun.
SPEAKER_04Fuck.
SPEAKER_00Fuck. I'm clicking that and putting it on the Discord soundboard.
SPEAKER_06Like goofy or some shit. Oh, well, fuck. That's what I thought you were doing.
SPEAKER_04Fuck, Mickey.
SPEAKER_09Oh, God. So this lady walked in with a gun, rambling um, and cursing at God, uh, basically about how her quote unquote God-given gift was taken from her. We learn that there's roughly 30 people inside the building, with half of those people being kids. The caller begs for help, stating that she's got a daughter, and the daughter's only a baby. So come help. And the guy, the the 911 operator's just like, yeah, we got a guy coming. Don't worry. It's on his way. Um, we learn that the caller, her name is Rose. She's the manager at Chimpy Chippas. And Rose claims the shooter's eyes are glowing. Uh it's at this point where she's just like, oh fuck, she's she stopped talking. She's just laughing. Oh no. She she had the same, as soon as she had the same thought that Hemingway did. I wonder what this gun tastes like. Because she trigger warning alert for some people, maybe. Uh, she shot herself. Um Kirk Cobained it. She Kirk Cobained it. And uh the whole time Did you just say Kirk?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Did I say Kirk? Kirk Cobain. Kirk and Hart or Hardly Kirkin. Am I right? You just call me Kirk.
SPEAKER_09Kirk and it's crazy stuff.
SPEAKER_07Call me Kramit.
SPEAKER_09Um, so the whole time that this call has been going on, the background with the call has just been like a background of the restaurant. Just like the the the seats, the tables, all that stuff, the like big door into like the kitchen. But um it's at this point that the call gets disconnected after the gunshot, and the door in the background actually moves and opens, and it's been still this entire time, so it's pretty jarring. As it opens, it opens to an ultrasound of a baby, and then the screen turns all types of red, and we get the following words on the screen. I didn't mean it, I had no control. It wants your space, but it can only live where there's negative energy. Don't let it take anyone else. The more death it brings, the more others like it can come. We see glowing eyes in the doorway, which was creepy as shit. Um, and uh we get this jump cut to a bunch of newspaper articles about the shooting and how the lady who killed herself was pregnant. We also find out that chimpy's clothes uh closed down because of this incident, and also we find out that the mascot has been horrifying children. Like that one's just kind of peppered in. Like it's like it's like woman kills herself at Chimpy's chimpy's. Struggles to reopen because of incident. Kids terrified of new mascot.
SPEAKER_07Like that's the headline you need. Um women kills a bunch of people at restaurant, but also like monkey ugly. Fucking weird, dude. This monk is fucked.
SPEAKER_09Um monk. Oh, monkey. You have saved me, monkey. Monkey.
SPEAKER_04Um we cut to we cut ride wife. Ride wife. Regret.
SPEAKER_09I follow a page that uploads that daily on Instagram.
SPEAKER_07Bro, that's a solid fucking. I need to find that. Ride wife. Ride wife. Kill wife. Regret.
SPEAKER_09Regret. Regret. So we cut to another call from Will Bill's warehouse on October 11th, 1984. That sounds familiar, right?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it's actually like one to three seconds after the shit happened in my video.
SPEAKER_09The caller on the other end, the operator's like, hello, thank you for calling the police. How can I help you? And the caller is just like, hungry. Hello.
SPEAKER_06Thank you for calling the police.
SPEAKER_10I wish they always answered that chip or two. Hello, thank you for calling the police. How can I help you? Hello.
SPEAKER_07Thanks for calling the police.
SPEAKER_09What can I do for so uh the caller on the other line just says hungry over and over, just hungry, hungry, hungry, hungry, hungry. And uh so it hangs up, and then they send an officer to the warehouse. Um we see kind of like a slight POV from the officer. Not not even, I wouldn't call it POV, it's just kind of like an angle pointing down a hallway, I guess. Um, monkey POV?
SPEAKER_06Can I get a monkey POV dog? Um show me lots of monkey POV, please.
SPEAKER_04We just can't get through this fucking episode, there's no way. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_10I'm almost done. I have like a sentence left. So an officer goes to the warehouse and he flashes his light down a hallway and nothing's there.
SPEAKER_09Um he does another sweep of the light down that hallway, and ah, the chimpy is there, big chimp right there. And uh the flashlight starts to like flicker, and with each flicker, you see like Chimpy get closer and closer to the officer, and uh it's at this point the officer just starts fucking open opening fire on Chimpy, and uh Chimpy like accelerates to him and is like nom nom nom trying to bite him, and you see the officer just just plugging him uh while he's trying to attack him. It's at this point when I think we could all agree with Chimpy. Um A Cab.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, you know? I was I'm rooting for Chimpy, clearly.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I'm rooting for Chimpy on this one. Uh so that's the end of it.
SPEAKER_07Business police boy.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, what are you doing at this fucking uh warehouse?
SPEAKER_00Um cop is species profiling.
SPEAKER_08Just open fire on him. Yeah, such damn shit.
SPEAKER_07Didn't do anything yet. You can't just be unloading on a monkey like that, fucking rip Haramba. Yo, get the nips out of the free dog.
SPEAKER_10This is an impossible episode.
SPEAKER_04Thanks to Champion.
SPEAKER_09Oh fuck. All right. Like I promised, Matthew can talk now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll start talking. So on tape four, we got stuck in the police all the hours.
SPEAKER_10Hi, thanks for calling the police.
SPEAKER_00Oh god, how can I assist you with your emergency today?
SPEAKER_09Just a sassy. I need a sassy gay man to answer every time I call the police.
SPEAKER_07Ah, fuck. Do I hang up? Like, do I have to get another one? Like there's a robber in the house.
SPEAKER_06What do I do? Oh, bitch, hi. What are you doing?
SPEAKER_00Oh, bitch, get out of there. Bitch, don't you breathe too loud? You're breathing too loud now, girl.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you go get your ass.
SPEAKER_10Oh shit, I forgot to send them. Oh, they're out of their way now.
SPEAKER_06Oh shit.
SPEAKER_07I sent the wrong team.
SPEAKER_06Holy shit.
SPEAKER_09I hope a majority of this stays in. Christ.
SPEAKER_00Okay, alright.
Tape Four News Broadcast Corruption
SPEAKER_00Tape four, news broadcast interruption. So this episode starts out with a replay of a good chunk of Mike's video. So we see a shot of Chimpy in the warehouse in the dark. He rushes toward the camera and then he gets shot up. And then we see the cop who has shot Chimpy. And Chimpy straight up got blasted in the eye.
SPEAKER_09Also, this just turned into like a crisp ass high def live action thing all out of nowhere.
SPEAKER_00Right, yeah. So up to this point, it's mostly been like your stand standard analog horror fair, except for the fact that the animatronic looks really good. Now we've got like straight up to the point where I believe they filmed all this, judging by the other content and stuff on the channel. But at first I was like, did they take like an NCIS episode or something and like splice the footage into this? But no, it just looks really good. But anyway, it's this old dude, and he fucking shot Chimpy in the eye. We see Chimpy's eye smoking, and he stops moving, and then we see him in the landfill. So he gets thrown into the landfill. Um, and it zooms out and it shows this dump that he's all up in the middle of, and then a news story starts playing. So, and also one really cool thing that happens here is that this series goes back and forth between different perspectives and stuff, but with like the addition of the really sick cinematic looking shots now, it changes between these cinematic shots and these like analog horror-looking shots, and when it does, the aspect ratio changes, yeah, and like the the blanking on the sides of the screen changes with it. It's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, you go from like an IMAX to like uh like a like a nine by uh like a four by three.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's four by three. So, yeah, it's pretty nifty. It's twenty-one by whatever to four four by three. And anyhow, so a new story starts playing, and we learn that a suspicious 911 call um led the officer to the warehouse where he shot the monkey and then also found the body of a 31-year-old man named Sylvester Rigby. Now, Sylvester Rigby is the husband of Miranda Rigby, who be the lady who unalived herself at Chimpy Chimpa's earlier in the earlier in the year. So, anyway, um it it tells us that the cop shot the animatronic and the animatronic was sent to the landfill, and apparently all of the security footage of this entire incident was corrupted. So while we're watching this feed of the news story, what we're watching also becomes corrupted, and Chimpy himself appears to us and speaks to us. And we also hear the audio of the whole event with Miranda playing in the background, and Chimpy says, so many watching, so very hungry.
SPEAKER_09He really does max headroom this. Yeah, he just like ride the way the chimpy wave.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I don't know if they film with the yellow background, yeah. Yeah, that's a real one. That should be a real one. The yeah, there's like actually footage of their thro what ones are 3D somewhere floating around. Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_09I saw a couple like blooper real things that they put up, and I I could see where some of it's real, but I didn't know if this one was or not. Because it I don't know if this was the point or not. You said I think at best where it looks like it's like a clay thing that was put through a fucking kiln. That's like perfectly describing it, but I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but it looks like early C like early CG. And I don't know if that was on purpose or not, but it looks really cool. Yeah, where it's like kind of like polygonal still. Yeah, yeah, and that's really cool. Like it the fact that this is a real thing and it looks like that, I think, is like it's thrown off my brain a little bit, and I like that.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I assume if they built them out, like they're gonna use them for the shots, you know what I'm saying? At least I would. They did a good job with it. Yeah, I liked it. Yeah, yeah. Like I like the way it looks. It's it's creepy enough to like so just transparently, obviously, this is kind of going in the same like category as like FNAF and like the Walton files and shit. But uh, I don't know. I like their I like their the design, it's not too much like anything else, you know what I'm saying? So it doesn't feel like a copy paste of anything, which I like. So the Walton files got like a show or something recently. Did y'all see that?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Yeah, it's got like a like a legit TV show. It's very weird. Anyway.
SPEAKER_00Back to Chimp E. Chippa. Chimpa's Chippa's Chippas. Chimp Chimpy Chippa Chimpy Cheese. So Chimpy says, so so many watching, so very hungry. So we learned some more stuff. We learned that the shooting took place a few months after Chimpy Chippas first opened. And this whole event obviously had a negative effect on their business. So, to try to get their mojo back, they decided that the best course of action was to produce an entire sitcom based on the Chimpi Chimpa's Chippas restaurant. I can't say it either. Chimpi Chipa, it's a bad name for your restaurant. Anyway, they they made an entire sitcom to try to get people to come back, I guess, because they like the sitcom so much. Anyway, they had to cancel airing that show because apparently all of the footage for the show became corrupted and it was completely unusable. And now Chimpy Chippas is going out of business.
SPEAKER_02Damn, R.I.P. to a real one. Okay. R.I.P.
SPEAKER_05And Chimpy R.
SPEAKER_09Anyway, it's
Tape Five The Lost Sitcom Turns
SPEAKER_09called Chimpy Chippas, Lost Sitcom. And uh this is basically it's footage from the lost sitcom that Matt was just talking about. Uh it's called Monkey Business, and I love that. And uh the TV show mentioned um that's again it's filmed at Chimpy's. It's very classic, like 80s sitcom style opening. I love that.
SPEAKER_07Where they, you know, it's like they do the thing where they're like this, the credits roll on them, and they're just like looking at a newspaper, they're just like so the I love that this is the one I had the comment about where it feels like they're trying to not have their like Australian accents come out. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna say that the girl's really good at it, he's horrible at it.
SPEAKER_07Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_09It's it's pretty great, but um uh yeah, it's very 80s-esque. We get our actors' names. I I'm gonna list off the actors' names because I don't know if this is going to matter if this like continues at any point or something. Um, but I want to bring it up just in case to future proof if anything does.
SPEAKER_07Well, it's been four years since anything has happened. So who knows? Go ahead and say it's probably done.
SPEAKER_00Who knows? You don't know, you don't know.
SPEAKER_09It was 19 years between the city. It was 19 years between Avatar 1 and Avatar 2. So who's to say when things can happen?
SPEAKER_07Are we talking blue avatar or yeah, blue avatar?
SPEAKER_09So we have uh Jan Rivers. We have our actors Jan Rivers, which is the uh the lady uh protagonist in this, Ricky McClellan, who is the dude, and Mary Lies, who plays a waitress. Uh, we have the ex-producer who is Charlie Chipper. We know Rami Sullivan and Joseph Lee Wood. I'm assuming Charlie Chipper is supposed to be maybe like the founder of Chimpy Chippas, but uh it's never really said. So it starts off with our actors in a booth ordering food, and this whole thing is very like classic Disney sitcom, like writing and acting. It's very Hannah Montana, sweet life style, like jokes, back and forth type of stuff. Got the laugh track, you know. Yeah, it's pretty great.
SPEAKER_00But it's like it's unsettling because the one, the conversation doesn't make any sense, and two, the laugh track doesn't line up to what is supposed to be being what's supposed to be funny. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09But like she'll they'll say something like the guy, his name is Simon in this, and he's so indecisive. He can't figure out what to eat. And like the little bits of dialogue are like he'll be sitting there just like, hmm, what should I get to what should I get to eat? And the lady next to him is like, oh, I don't know. Food, Simon, and then laugh track. Like it's that kind of like it again, it's it's straight up like Disney written, which I think is the point, and I I love that a lot. But um apparently he's been trying to decide for 30 minutes on how to on what to eat. Um, I believe in the show, her name is Becca, the lady that's sitting next to him. I think he like murder her name like one time, and I think he says Becca, but I couldn't really hear it.
SPEAKER_00Um, I think he's mumbling intentionally to cover up the fact that his accent is so bad. That's entirely possible.
SPEAKER_09He could say something else, and it's just not Australian, so it just comes out sounding like Becca, you know.
SPEAKER_07In the credits, it's it's says Bethan.
SPEAKER_09Bethon.
SPEAKER_07Oh, I didn't even see that. I must have missed over that. Beth very well in in the description. Sorry, not the credits.
SPEAKER_00He's like trying to do like a Texan accent. Yeah, yeah, Bayothan.
SPEAKER_09So Bethan and the waitress are waiting on him to figure out what he wants to eat. Uh, he asks for more time, and our lady protagonist says, Shoot me now. And then that's when you hear a gunshot, and the screen goes blank for just like a couple seconds, and then it comes back on. Simon is kind of freaking out a little bit, and the screen now has this like matrix movie, like green filter on it, and Simon is just like, What was that sound? Like, did you hear that? What what what just happened just now?
SPEAKER_07And uh were you able to pause it to see what was on like the words that came up on the window? Oh no, I forgot to. Um, I saw that and I forgot to do it on my when I was taking notes. It says, Don't let them take Sylvester.
SPEAKER_09Ah, thank you for that. Um, yeah, I saw that and I was like, I gotta go back and after I'm doing my notes to see what that says, and I completely forgot about that. Um so Bethan, as as Simon is just like, what was that? What just happened? Bethany is just kind of sitting there, she's not moving. Her eyes are basically like, I can't tell if they're white or rolled back, but either way, they're green, whatever, they're going green, I guess. Um but uh so he's like, you know, what's going on? And he's trying to like make fun with the situation, and he's just like, I like the new look, it works on you. He's like, fine, I know what I'm gonna eat, I'll get the super chimpy meal or whatever. And then he's like, I'll just get that. And it's at this point that he asks Bethan to say something to him, and she just punches him in the face. And it's at this point that the camera pans out. We see that the waitress is dead on like uh dead on the floor uh next to them. And she, I'm assuming, just killed Simon, or at least knocked him out. Um, and then the the camera kind of glitches a little bit, and Beth and just kind of stares at the camera now, and you see like this smile slowly come up on her face, and you see all these eyes just start appearing in the window behind her. It's very creepy, and if I'm honest, I didn't catch it because it's so subtle until like there's already like seven pairs of eyes behind her. I was like, Oh, when did that fucking happen? Oh, there's a lot of subtle shit that happens in this, which is very fun to me. I I enjoyed that a lot. Um, but as she smiles at the camera, uh, there's some words that get shown on the screen, and it says, We are many now, our hunger is never satisfied. Give yourself to us. This is our space, this is our chimpies restaurant. Don't you dare come in here. I'll call the police and have them shoot you in the eye. I added that last bit. That wasn't in there. That was for me. But then uh it ends on the show credits, which is basically the same stuff I mentioned before with the uh executive producers and whatnot. Oh, and I guess I forgot to mention too, which is nice, in the intro where they're all like, hey, hi, you we see this like updated chimpy mascot, and uh I guess he looks better.
SPEAKER_10I guess. Um he's more normal looking. Um but yeah, that's that's the end of the video.
Tape Six Fire And Failed Exorcism
SPEAKER_07Alright, so I have the next video, six episode six, uh Disturbing Exorcism. Um, and this starts out with uh just straight up footage of chimpy chippas on fire, and it says December 31st, 1984. So a lot has happened in this year, our Lord and Savior Chimpy Chippa. Um, so we cut to a recording of a video that survived the fire. You slanging ketchup packets down there? What you doing? Uh fire's oh she you're you're asking for the cyclosporosis.
SPEAKER_00But it's not blessing me yet.
SPEAKER_07This is just a normal day for me. I just shit my whole ass all the time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I wouldn't know the difference if I got it.
SPEAKER_09Haven't you been you've had this this whole time, and you haven't you've noticed your poops being worse? Actually, it's about par for course.
SPEAKER_07I thought the blood was normal. I don't know. Um, all right, so uh Chimpies is on fire. We cut to some uh footage of a recording of when it's happening, um, and it basically says that this is a a first hand account of the incident, um, and it was all that survived the fire. Um looks really good. Like, not like viewer discretion is advised.
SPEAKER_09I mean, like uh visually, like yes, it's a very uh visually it looks it's like there there is a lot of effort that went into making this look as good as possible, I feel.
SPEAKER_07Whoever directed this, Springtalk, I don't know why I said whoever. The the the Spring Talk did a really good job at like all the visuals. I think all the visuals are exactly what I want in a horror movie, like you know, it gives you a creepy it's all all the atmospheres are a lot, it's just creepy. So, anyways, um so we see the inside of Chimpy Chippa's, we see Rose's charred body essentially, and it's just like fire in the background. And uh while it's raging, we just hear a woman talking, and it says, uh, we get some text on the screen that says, I can't do this. I hear them, there's no other way. No, this ends tonight before they take over. Oh god, forgive me. I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, and then there's just horrible screaming. Um, and then after all this, the tape kind of starts to glitch, and uh basically while the screaming is going on so hard.
SPEAKER_00It's it's this this it's fucked up.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah, it's actually like straight up trigger warning, it's kind of distressing, like actually distressing. Um, but yeah, so she's screaming and screaming and screaming, and then it just like abruptly ends, and then we see the mannequin head. Head just well, I I I wrote that in my notes, but we see her head, Rose's head, slowly turn and face the camera. And then it says, Uh, I thought this exorcism would work. Um, it attached itself to me uh at the shooting. Um, it's so strong now. This was the only way to protect my daughter. Remember me, Rose. Um, it cuts to a night view of the landfill that we saw from a prior video.
SPEAKER_00Where's one very important thing that happens before when Rose pops up on the screen, a green thing leaves her eye and flies off the room.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah. Yes, thank you. That is very important, actually. This next bit didn't have to go as hard as it fucking does, dude.
SPEAKER_08Like this shit I watch, I'm like, god damn, Chimpy.
SPEAKER_07So, yeah, so the next bit is uh we get this like widened like screenshot of uh the landfill with Chimpy, and you see him in the landfill, and as you're looking at him, it's like you know, this fucking like night sky and the moon. All of a sudden it just like it just like swaps over to just Chimpy fucking in this burning blaze, just looking around, busted ass eye, and all of these green spirits are going into the eyeball. Um, and basically, uh yeah, it's like we just hear a bunch of screaming, and uh that's kind of where it ends. Um, we see just a bunch of what I can only assume are souls at this juncture, yeah uh being flooded into our our animatronic chimpy.
SPEAKER_09They had a goddamn transition from chimpy lying in the landfill. We see his eye and it transitions to the full moon, and I'm like, fuck, this goes hard.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it's literally like it, it's it's pretty, pretty fucking awesome. Like monkey in landfill, eyeball glee glowing, moon, fire. Like scary, like a you get a fucking foot shot for all you freaks out there. You get a monkey foot shot in this part. Um, it it goes hard as fuck. The the like the graphics, like it it all looks really well.
SPEAKER_09It's it it's good. Even the green like wisps that are like the soles or whatever that are going into to Chimpy, like it's got like such an 80s, like um what but like uh what's the what's that movie I'm I'm thinking of? Um blubber. Blubber, yes. It's got blubber vibes. No, the poltergeist, it's got like poltergeist vibes to it where it's like the hand, the like wispy hand coming out of the TV at the little girl. Like it has that feeling. It's so cool, it's so good. I am glazing this motherfucker like a Krispy Kreme donut right now.
SPEAKER_07Um, but yeah, that's the that's the end of my video.
SPEAKER_00Sure is.
Tape Seven Journal And Final Confrontation
SPEAKER_00So I got the the seventh and final uh tape, right? So or and the longest. Yeah. So here's where it all goes down. So we start up with a screen, an analog horror screen that just says Miranda's journal two days before the January shooting. So it shows these pictures of her journal that she's just kind of chicken scratched in, and it says, There is so much death in this world. When the baby grows, so will I, strong enough to control this body and kill it to release myself and feast with the others. Hungry, hungry, hungry.
SPEAKER_02Hippos.
SPEAKER_00Hippos. Yeah, hungry is just scratched all over the page, and then the scene changes, and we see championship is burning again. And this time we see that there is a kid outside filming it on his big old fucking handheld uh VHS camera. 80s, the 80s. Yeah, December 31st, 1984. And so uh he's filming it, and then all of a sudden he starts running away, and it switches to this like pov of him running into uh his house, and you can hear behind him.
SPEAKER_09You missed key part there, and why he does run away. The green the green whisk comes out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's explicitly stated in the text later. Um so anyway, it he's running into his house, and the uh you can hear Chimpy behind him stomping his feet, chasing after him. So uh it switches back to an analog horse screen and it says Police received a call reporting a domestic disturbance. Police officer Sean Yates was dispatched to the scene. So we switch back to inside the house, and now we're back in like cinematic camera view mode, and we see the this very stereotypical image of a phone dangling off the edge of a counter, and the kid's hiding underneath the table, and Chimpy's stomping around his house looking for him, and the cop comes in, and old cop guys looking around, and it kind of goes back and forth between cinematic camera and then first person camera, and then all of a sudden, Chimpy comes flying out of the fucking banisters and starts attacking the officer. He tries to attack the yeah, he's like really tall, all the which I wasn't expecting. I thought he was gonna be like two feet tall.
SPEAKER_10Two feet, yeah. I thought it was a little guy, not he's like a full ass dude.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, but he's like straight up like whole ass monkey, at least five feet tall, yeah. Whole ass monkey. And he's stomping around, and then he tries to kill the kid and the officer, but as he's doing this, the green wisp flies in through the open door and sucks itself into Chimpy's eyeball. And then we transition to what I assume is like inside of Chimpy's mind or just in his head, and it's these green spirits talking to each other, and it says they go back and forth and they say spirit, I'm pretty sure. What?
SPEAKER_07It's I'm pretty sure it's Rose's spirit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's Rose's spirit, and and then whatever is inhabiting Chimpy. And so they go back and forth, and it says, This space, this world is not yours, and then we take what we want. All I want is a world safer for my daughter. She is nothing to us, as was Miranda and Sylvester before you. You cannot hurt us. You are pests. Only through visual contact can you survive, and I take it away, trapped in this vessel with me forever. So then Rose assumedly blows out his eyeball, and then Chimpy just kind of falls to the ground, and that's that's the end, that's the end of Chimpy. So he chimped his last chimpa. Yeah, he chimped his last chimpa. So we switch back to the analog of horror screen, and this is a police a transcript of a police interview with Brady Whitlock, who is the kid that was uh on the floor in the house that was filming the fire. So uh Brady says, I've been following this whole chimpy chipas thing since the January shooting. Everyone had their own theories about it. I live close to the restaurant, so when I saw it in flames, I had to get it on tape. And then the detective interviewing him says, You mentioned seeing a green glow. And then Brady says, Yeah, I had no idea what it was. And the detective says, So you said it left the fire as you were recording, and then Brady says, Yeah, but it came back and it sort of just destroyed the animatronic. So this is uh basically Brady confirming that there was some sort of green spirit inside the house when it was or not the house, the restaurant when it was burning, and it chased him back to the house and it destroyed Chimpy. So the detective then Brady says, Is the thing gone like completely? And the detective's like, well, no, not exactly. We we're inspecting it to try to figure out what's going on with it because it's some sort of non-human being. And but they said that it does seem like it's completely fried. So that's dad'd be chimpy's, and then the very last thing that we're left with, bringing it all around, all full circle, is a screen recording of a computer desktop. And uh, the whoever is recording their screen has a notepad open and it says, Hello, viewer. I downloaded this video that was recently linked on leaked on the web by an anonymous user. Watch. And then he double clicks on the file called Chimpy Chippa's scrap commercial, which is the first thing that we watch in the whole series, and it brings it all back around.
SPEAKER_10And that's it. That's chimpy chippas. That's chimpichippas.
SPEAKER_09Um goddamn boys. God damn, what
Ratings Scares And What Worked
SPEAKER_09a ride chimpichippas was. Um let's talk about it a little bit. We have a little bit of time. Let's talk about it. Um Dougie, I'll let you kind of start it off here.
SPEAKER_10What do you think? Zero out of ten, don't look unders. What are you at? Where are you at?
SPEAKER_07Don't look unders. Uh if it's being scary and weird, I'd give it a screen.
SPEAKER_09Oh, it's a five. Sorry, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah, I I already knew that. Uh, but I'd give it about a four out of five for scariness because like there was some pretty distressing shit. There was some good use of screaming and like distress and uh just you know, that kind of shit. Um, the vibes that you got, the the whole aesthetic of it was creepy and weird, and I like that. Um, this might also be a thing. Some people are scared of animatronics, so I don't know. But um, it could be higher for more people. But I I thought it was I'd give it a solid four. Um, as far as a rating, this gets this gets a solid nine for me. I I really like this. Uh, I think it's done really well. I think there's a lot more lore to it that we haven't super like connected everything yet. Um, yeah, there's a game might go into, but yeah, yeah, the the game. Uh so I watched I watched some of the gameplay footage, it's really short. It's basically just go ahead. Uh you're basically just in this house. You watch the very first video on a small laptop in the house, and then it prompts you to like do all of this shit in the house while Chimpy like tries to chase you around. Um, and yeah, it I don't I don't think it really adds much to the lore or to the story. Uh I think it just like kind of follows. I think it's actually smack dab in the middle of some of the events that are going on because um Chimpy's
Lore Theories And The Game Debate
SPEAKER_07there clearly.
SPEAKER_09So I think um well I I took it as it being a sequel to this because so uh at the end of Matt's uh episode, it says that uh Chimpy can only spread and everything through visual contact, so he has to see you. So I took that as if you watch the video or watch like it's it's like it's like the ring, if you watch the video, you can bring Chimpy back at you. So I feel like that's what's happening here. Is this like a modern times, and it has to be modern times because he has a cell phone in there, so this can't be a good one.
SPEAKER_00That's what I assume is happening here too, because there's the whole thing with the eyeballs in the first video where like the eyes hang there, and like so yeah, so here's the thing that we I want to address too.
SPEAKER_07I I do agree with that to a degree, however, um in the game, Chimpy has his eyes, right? But this is the thing, Chimpy is just the vessel for the thing that's possessing it. So it doesn't necessarily like if we were to have a prequel or like a sequel, I mean, would technically be a different host because the eyes are what are like the things called the false, like the false spirit or whatever. I can't remember what they called it. The yeah, the false spirit. Um, and it originally possesses Miranda before Chimpy Chippa is possessed at all. So like Chimpy is just one of the other things that gets possessed by the false spirit. Um, it just happens to happen after Miranda kills herself in the diner. It's just what it attaches itself to, you know what I'm saying? Well, Rose said that it attached to her in the diner. Um, well, so in 83, I I have I pulled up, I had to pull up a lit uh a fucking like a timeline. So it says 83, uh false pos the false spirit possesses Miranda in 84. Um Miranda writes down all these negative thoughts, serving as food for the spirit. Um Miranda, influenced by the spirit, breaks into Chimpy's, um uh holds the people up with a gun. Um, and then the Miranda shoots herself in front of everyone. Chimpy Chippa is then possessed by the false spirit that's progress possessing Miranda and feeds on the negative energies of everyone watching. Um, and then the false spirit ends up bonding with Rose ever since through Chimpy.
SPEAKER_09I think it just went I think it just went, yeah. I I guess it just went back to the Chimpy vessel because we do see after Rose dies, it doesn't have anywhere to go, so it just goes back to the landfill robot. So I yeah, so I guess that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00But but why is Rose also a green-eyed thingy? Because Rose comes out of the fire and then flies back into Chimpy again.
SPEAKER_07I don't know. Honestly. I that that the the soul thing was actually something that kind of confused me a little bit. I didn't yeah, I guess I didn't quite understand where they came from.
SPEAKER_00I also don't understand why there's like a bajillion of them that come out of chimp out of Chimpy's when it's on fire, and then does it fly into Chimpi?
SPEAKER_09I'm assuming he's collecting souls and roses just hit. Where was he storing them though?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, where it was he just storing them in a storage container is at Chippy's?
SPEAKER_09USB or some shit, yeah. Flash he got them in a few. It's the 80s, so it's a floppy disk. Um I don't know. I I I guess before we go into like a rating, not to steer off of you, Doug, but should we attempt to explain what the plot was here real quick?
SPEAKER_00I think we just did.
SPEAKER_07I mean, I think yeah, I think we were doing that right now. Yeah, I was like, like I said, you know, I mean, I don't want to read this whole timeline verbatim, but uh essentially it all starts with Miranda getting possessed by the false spirit, and then we get what we kind of just went through. Um, but on top of that, Rose is basically gone rogue and you know, wants to just have a better place for her daughter, so she kind of goes into like Rambo mode. Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00It also says it can only spread where there is a negative energy, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Negative energy. So who knows?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, so like in my like in my in my one video, fucking uh the dude like is like trying to you know steal something from the warehouse, that negative energy alerted fucking chimpy and then he fucking ate his ass. So yeah, I guess I'm wondering when when he shot the eyeball the first time, did like did all the souls poop out of him, or like what happened? I don't I don't know.
SPEAKER_09Maybe, yeah. Or maybe that's what made him maybe that's what made him weak, and that's why Rose was able to kind of defect a little bit. Maybe he didn't have his visual prowess, he didn't have his goddamn charing on ready to go.
SPEAKER_02Rose was living in one island Yeah or like because no, she wasn't possessed yet, I don't think at that point.
SPEAKER_00Oh wait Yeah, yeah, the timeline's a little muddled because Chimpy ends up in the warehouse after the whole disaster, yeah.
SPEAKER_09So maybe, yeah, maybe he's just weakened by that cop, and that's why Rose is able to to you know kind of escape and fight back or something. I I don't really know, but um yeah it's a little difficult, yeah. Yeah, it's it's a little high concept, but uh it's still really fun.
SPEAKER_07But the game, the game I wonder if those green eyes that we keep seeing like are the false spirits that are like tormenting everyone, and those are what we're seeing being sucked into chimpy, like because you know how he's always like there's there's many of us. I wonder if those are supposed to be like the the other things, you know, all the eyes we're seeing in the backgrounds of stuff and whatnot.
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_07I'm just trying to place where these fucking spirits come into.
SPEAKER_09I think they're just souls. I really do just think that they're souls that are corrupted. Like I think he just corrupts the souls to be on his team, but Rose's was not corruptible, and that's how she was able to stop Chimpy. But uh the the game has to be some form of a sequel though, because everything takes place in the 80s, and in the game use a cell phone.
SPEAKER_00So I remember reading somewhere that that's the phone, the the game is not canon, but I don't remember where yeah.
SPEAKER_07I I watched the gameplay. There literally nothing happens in that game, like almost nothing happens in that game. You're just in a house running away from chimpy, like there's no storyline to it, and it's like 15 minutes long.
SPEAKER_09Probably just trying to cash in on that FNAF money. Oh, yeah. Um I'm sure it is, but you know, you were getting to your overall rating. I'll let you kind of you are you were talking about you getting I still put it at a nine.
SPEAKER_07I I think there's enough here where we could sit here and talk about what we think is happening with the plot. I don't think I mean with anything you lose the plot a little bit, but I didn't feel like I lost the plot entirely on this at all. Like I feel like it took place in that time frame and we learned about it. It might not have been like as it happened, but I think that is good for you know keeping people interested when you like kind of jump around and see different things happening. But yeah, I'd give it a nine out of ten. I like I liked it a lot, it was really fun.
SPEAKER_09I now that I think about it too, I I I think this whole thing, I mean you could tell it's kind of inspired a little bit by Five Nights at Freddy's because isn't isn't that as well? Is aren't the animatronics in that possessed by souls of dead people too or something?
SPEAKER_07Uh yeah, they're like dead children.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, so they probably try to take a little bit of inspiration from that, but like go their own route, and I I think it might have gotten a little muddled, but still good. Matthew, where are you at on this?
SPEAKER_00Uh don't look unders. I'll give it a two and a half. I've there are some legitimately disturbing things in here. I think if you're I think if you're scared easily, this would be scary. Um I was unsettled a bit by some of the like the definitely the one where Rose is laying on the floor all burned up and she looks at the cameras. That's pretty fucked up. Um so I'll give it a two and a half or a three. Don't look unders. Uh as far as overall rating, I'm gonna probably give this one. I wish I could see the ratings I've given other things.
SPEAKER_09Um the highest I think I've heard you give is like a six.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I'll give this like I'll give this an eight, I think. Um the production quality is f phenomenal, for sure. Of all the things we've ever watched, this might be the best production. Like visually, I visually enjoyed this more than anything we've ever watched.
SPEAKER_09At no point was I bored.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh but I think the the plot is decent. It doesn't lose the plot, it doesn't expand into too much shit and like n not wrap any of it up. So it the the it's solid, but like we already highlighted, I think there are some things that aren't addressed as like why exactly these things both possess things and have free will and are evil and good at the same time. And then also I feel like the plot overall could have done a better job of creating a reason for you to want to know more because it keeps you watching because it's just it looks good and it's visually entertaining, which is all a horror series really needs to do, I guess. But I would have enjoyed it would have brought it up to a nine or or higher for me if I had watched it and thought, what is going on here? I need to know more, but I don't think it really did a good job of creating that sort of mystery or void of knowledge that you have a desire to fill.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I do appreciate that it it came back around full circle and was and wrapped itself up in a really nice package.
SPEAKER_09So it had a good ending, which a lot of analog horrors just kind of flop on the ending, I've noticed.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was like we're starting here, we're ending here. The flow from that to that makes sense. It's a good self contained package. So that so yeah, I appreciate that.
SPEAKER_09I agree. Um Dolok Unders wise, I'm I'm I'm gonna put it I'm gonna put it probably at uh I I wanna say three, but I don't think my heart's in it. Probably a two and a half. Um mostly because like kind of like you said, it no part of this scared me, but it has scary aesthetics, which is really pleasing. But I wasn't at any point quick.
SPEAKER_07I did my don't look unders for the like people watching, not myself. You know what I'm saying? Because if I if I if we're talking about like what would scare me, it would my rating would be a lot lower. Because yeah. Just just so we're aware, because I think I said four or something.
SPEAKER_00I do mine on a scale of things that I've seen on the internet. Well, uh okay, not a scale of things I've seen on the internet, because the scale of things I've seen on the internet, this is probably it's this doesn't even register. Scale of things that we have watched here before, I think.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Like I think my scale, I think my scale gets like topped with um what was that one we covered? It was like H32 or something like that. That like weird opera thing. Uh H332 or yeah, that that is like a five for me because that shit was creepy and actually legitimately was scary to me.
SPEAKER_00I would have to go back and tell you what they are, but there are things that I have watched at like one o'clock in the morning and been like, I don't know if this is the time to do this.
SPEAKER_09That's one of them where I started it and I I got like 10 seconds in. I was like, I'm not doing this at night. Like, this is terrifying.
SPEAKER_07That's fair. Um, if we're going off that criteria, I would probably put this at like a two and a half as well, maybe two. Yeah, because it wasn't just scary shit. It's yeah, it's I think some people just don't do good with like that kind of distress, like I've mentioned, uh, like hearing people like screaming like for utter fucking yeah, you know, help and shit. So uh but yeah, no, I feel that.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I'm well that's what I'm saying. Like, I'll give it a two and a half because I wasn't scared. There are parts where I'm I was unsettled, but I wasn't scared. Um little spooked, yeah. So at no point was I uh at no point did I do that. So I'm not gonna give it more than a two and a half, but it does have scary aesthetics, which I appreciate. Um what I rate it as a whole, I'm probably up there with you, Doug. I'm gonna place this in a nine. Um just no almost no notes, a couple little plot hang-ups here and there, but also like I'm stupid, so that could just be a me thing. Um, yeah, and but like aesthetically, really good, visually, really good. Like, you can we said this on the last one. You could tell this is a labor of love and they had direction. Like this was uh you can tell by how much, and they have blooper reels too, which is really good where you could see like outtakes and stuff. They had like a team working on this, so like this wasn't just like um like you can tell the this spin what was what spin talk, you tell this this uh company, this channel, whatever they put time and effort into what they make because they like making it. You could see that here too. This is a team that likes making this shit, and I love that for them. So I'm giving this a nine because it just really good. I love that for you. Um just spot on. Um good job, Chimpy Chippas. I get why I think every, if not most uh videos have over a million views, and I see why. Like this is just genuine, this is genuinely good. Like this is I would argue this is top five analog horrors. Like, it's just good. Like the pacing's really good, it doesn't overstay, it's welcome, it's produced really well. Like, I it's just good shit.
SPEAKER_00I'm actually surprised by like this channel, only has 20,000 subscribers, right? And the first videos over a million, but the rest of them are like 200,000, 300,000.
SPEAKER_09Oh, really? I must have missed dang. Still, those are pretty good numbers, all things considered.
SPEAKER_00Like, I think it deserves more attention than shit like monument mythos.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I'm surprised there's like you said, there's not more followers to this because yeah, it's so good. Top five analog horror for me, for sure.
SPEAKER_00This is easily in the top five of things that we've watched. Um, yeah. I'm struggling honestly to come up with an example of being like this was better than than I I would argue there's a couple, like I really liked Vita Carnas.
SPEAKER_09I thought that was strong. Yeah, I was gonna say Vita Carnus is one of my favorites. Um Midwest Angelica was really good. Um uh Gemini Home Entertainment, I thought was really good too.
SPEAKER_07Yes. Um, I mean channel or whatever 58. Yeah, Local58 is like pretty fucking good.
SPEAKER_00Uh thing is like though, if you watch Local58 now, does it hold up?
SPEAKER_07I know. I was thinking about that because like I never want to watch Ash Vlogs again. Yeah, so they've been uploading too, which is wild. Are they? Local58's back at it. Oh, Local58. I thought you meant Ash Vlogs.
SPEAKER_03I was like, no, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Uh I saw Local58 uploaded a few things, but yeah. Yeah, Vita Carnus is just so fucking good.
SPEAKER_00Like I that one is so good. Vita Carnas is probably my code. Um one other thing that I will give is a criticism to this is the storytelling.
Analog Horror Tropes And Critiques
SPEAKER_00Like I I mean I guess they were intentionally trying to fit this into like an analog horror type format, but I don't know if this if using the text on screen format serves this all the time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I get that.
SPEAKER_00And I think it would have been better if they had because they put the effort into doing like cinematic shots and doing dialogue, like well-acted dialogue and interactions, and I I think some of the story would have been better if it had been told in that way.
SPEAKER_07I think this I think this works as a YouTube formatted like series, but I think that there's so much potential with what they did and how much they had, like how much they put into it that like I think they could almost have actually filmed everything as like a full movie. Like they there's enough story where they could have shot more than just the the sitcom, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, um, but I agree. I I think um I think a lot of people do that nowadays, they're just like text on the screen is spooky.
SPEAKER_09Uh this was made at that time, like this was made four years ago, so 2022. I feel like that was that was probably close to like the peak for analog horrors, where like that was the big thing. So I'm not surprised.
SPEAKER_07So I assume they were probably doing this during COVID, like the height of COVID at some juncture. So they probably had you know a lot of difficulty getting people together too. But um yeah, I think I think the only reason the text on the screen kind of works is because they're like, hey, you're watching a guy's computer screen, and hey, you're seeing text over the video you're watching. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I guess, but like I agree though. I think the biggest spot where I'm torn because I think the biggest spot where it bothers me is also this a spot that I really like, which is where we're seeing Rose's body. What doesn't make sense about that whole thing is it it intros it as this is footage that was recovered from the scene of the fire, but why is that camera there? Yeah, and why is she speaking to it? Like, did she take it with her?
SPEAKER_09I feel like that's just uh that's just a uh analog horror trope in general. Because like I I feel that same way about every analog horror that's just like, oh, these are training tastes, but then like the tape has like the demon like talking to you in it. It's like someone approved this tape. Yeah, nobody rebuked this. Yeah, like and and it that never the like glitchy tape concept with analog horrors just never makes sense because it's like no one no one caught this, no one saw that this is bugging out. Like it never made sense to me.
SPEAKER_00I'm fine with that in the broadcast section because it's like this is a rec a recording of the broadcast, and he interrupted the broadcast, the max headroom style is how I interpreted that. I was so I was fine with that. If it's a recording of live footage, it's fine.
SPEAKER_09But like But like the first video where it's the voiceover and it like in the middle of the voiceover, it stops it. Black screen is just like we're hungry, I'm hungry, yada yada yada. It's like who can let that go?
SPEAKER_00But then I guess they do address that footage that is recorded becomes corrupt. He has some ability to corrupt footage after the fact, like with the telling.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I think I'm just I'm just talking about again, I'm just talking about analog horrors in general when they do that. I'm just like, how who would have let that slide? It never made sense to me.
SPEAKER_07Well, I was kind of thinking that like it was possibly like not on the original film, and the fact that you've the very first thing that we see is the eyeballs in the first video, and then it I think that denotes that like okay, now we're not possessed, but now we're under the influence of Chimpy. Yeah, maybe so anything he says and does throughout the next videos, like he's directly like talking at us and shit. I don't know. I I maybe I'm not really sure.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I the I mean these are pretty weak criticisms, but this is just what I feel. I'm not necessarily saying too much chimp. I'm not necessarily docking it because of this. I just feel I feel that there was opportunity to do it in a better way, but I couldn't tell you what it was.
SPEAKER_02So yeah.
SPEAKER_07I agree. We can't just criticize the bad bad ones. You gotta give some constructive feedback for the good ones too, you know?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's it I I do better. That's my that's my problem. I I guess that to sum up, my whole problem with all of this is that I thought it was really, really, really, really good, but I can't help shake the feeling that it could have been so much more.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's fair. You're like, well, hey, you know what? I'll take this as a win because I I went into it thinking it was gonna be just you know fine. Then I walked away with it being like a lot better than I expected. I mean it's called Chimpy Chippa. Yeah, so you know it's not a robot monkey, like but I my expectations were low. I wasn't expecting to walk out of this being like I could use a t-shirt.
SPEAKER_09Well, way to go, Chimpy Chippas. Uh, if you average out our scores, you got yourself at eight and a half, I guess. Um, actually, no, there's two nines and an eight. So you probably'm close to like an eight point eight. So good job.
SPEAKER_00Eight point six six.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, good job. We're getting in a fucking comic grading here. Yeah. Um, this is not this is near mint chimpy chippa. Uh yeah, near near mintware. But uh yeah, good job. Uh go check out their stuff. I highly recommend it. And because we might be covering more of
Final Thoughts Robots And Goodbye
SPEAKER_09Spring Talk stuff. We'll see. Um but we'll follow it first. Yeah. The the only thing I have left to say is uh, you know, if if uh check out our uh our website, duly.com, go to Patreon, patreon.com slash doulupod, go to our emails, doulipod at gmail.com, send us an email. It'd be really cool if you did that. Um if you see a monkey robot uh out and about, maybe just like ignore it. It's obviously on a mission, just don't look at it, let it go and beat up uh, you know, uh a kid with a VHS tape or VHS camera in his house, and then a cop, you know, just let it let it be. That's somebody else's problem. Yeah. If you see a robot in general, because those are walking around like in real life now. If you see a robot, just kind of keep your head down and ignore it. Because like those are real things now. You see that DoorDash thing going. A lot of videos of people like it gets stuck and they're like, Let me help you, little buddy. No, don't do that. Ignore it, let it be stuck.
SPEAKER_00That's how you end up on the bad side of Robos Bascalisk.
SPEAKER_09Hey, you know what? Who cares? Someone's dinners in there, sure, but they'll get a DoorDash credit. But DoorDash is taking jobs away from drivers with this shit, and that goes for a lot of stuff. You see a robot like a Terminator walking down the street, ignore it. It's not your problem.
SPEAKER_07It's all I got. Um, you know what, everybody, it's been a while. Slap those beans against those beans. If you're a member on the fourth wall, you can buy a mug that says that, and only our members can do it. So if you're the little bitch. No, I'm just kidding. Um, thanks for bringing that up to fourth wall here. Leave us alone now. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00We're we're heading up. You better buy that fucking members only merch, you fuck nut.
SPEAKER_09Anyways, you got glory on our fucking ass right now.
SPEAKER_00Like two pilots dead after military helicopter slams into central Texas field and catches fire.
SPEAKER_07There you go. Yo, I'm never getting on a helicopter. There's been too many helicopters. No fucking way to catch me in a fucking helicopter. All right, everybody, go fuck yourselves.
